Male impotence is a frequent illness

Male impotence or erectile dysfunction is the persistent inability to achieve or maintain an erection that allows for a satisfactory sexual relationship.

It must be differentiated from other sexual problems, such as lack of desire, alterations of ejaculation (premature ejaculation, delayed ejaculation and absence of ejaculation) or disorders of orgasm.

Impotence or erectile dysfunction is a frequent illness that if left untreated can affect relationships with the couple, family, work environment and social. All men may have trouble having an erection in their life, especially if they are tired, have stress, have a serious illness or are under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Psychological counseling is recommended in men under 40 years of age, since in these cases the cause of the disease is usually psihological. Even in cases of impotence due to physical problems, many men need psychological help to overcome self-esteem problems derived from this disease.

According to the guidelines of the American Society of Urology, oral phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors are first-line therapy and the following agents to be taken into account for the correct pharmacological treatment:

Tadalafil: Marketed as Cialis, it acts by increasing the blood flow in the penis in the presence of sexual stimulation. It is necessary to take this drug 30 minutes before having a sexual relationship and its effectiveness can reach 24 hours after the administration. Food intake does not affect drug absorption. Side effects are generally mild or moderate: headache, rhinitis, facial redness, or muscle aches.

Vardenafil: Marketed as Levitra, it acts by increasing the blood flow in the penis always in the presence of sexual stimulation. Its administration must be done between 25 and 60 minutes before the beginning of sexual intercourse and its effect lasts up to 12 hours. Side effects of this medication are mild and range from headache and nausea to dizziness or rhinitis. Keep in mind that the concentration of the drug in the blood is delayed if a meal with a high fat content is ingested.

Sildenafil: Known as Viagra, acts by enhancing the blood supply to the penis, thus facilitating erection. Its positive effect has been found in 40-80 percent of men. It should be taken an hour before sexual activity begins and has no unwanted effects on sexual desire. However, it can cause side effects such as headache, hot flashes, gastrointestinal or visual disturbances. Men who have retinitis or are taking nitrates can not take it. In any case, before you start taking this pill always have to go to the doctor.

Pills acts by improving the vasodilation, responsible for the blood to arrive properly to the penis to produce the erection. It is a drug that allows to maintain an erection in just 15 minutes after its ingestion. This is one of the points in favor against viagra that, despite the effectiveness of its effects, suffers from an excessive time of action that goes between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the patient.
